Begin forwarded message: From: Lauren Weinstein <lauren@vortex.com> Date: August 9, 2009 6:36:58 PM EDT To: dave@farber.net Subject: tr.im link shortening service shutdown, effective immediately Dave,The tr.im URL link shortening service has announced an immediate shutdown

Their announcement is here: http://tr.im/ The increasingly widespread use of link shortening services (for a variety of good reasons) brings with it a number of interesting issues and potential risks, including privacy-related and (as we see in this case) the longevity of existing links using such services, in the face of changing business conditions. --Lauren-- Lauren Weinstein lauren@vortex.com Tel: +1 (818) 225-2800 http://www.pfir.org/lauren -------------------------------------------
