Subject: Stagg Newman and Broadband workshops

Dave and folk:

Delighted to report that Stagg Newman has signed on as technical lead for the national broadband plan. He's one of the best. I discovered that from the schedule of workshops the FCC will be holding this week. They will all be webcast and more interesting than most similar events. They are only giving speakers 5 minutes then planning a very active back and forth with questions. I know about half those scheduled; a few will give predictable corporate messages, but most are very knowledgeable.

Here's the schedule.
WHEN: Wednesday and Thursday, Aug. 12 &13.  See agendas below for specific times
WHERE: FCC Commission Room, 445 12th St. SW, Washington D.C. 20554
ONLINE: Press and public attending online should register in advance at http://www.broadband.gov/. Click on “Workshops” tab.
