As recent articles have time and again
pointed out, the definition of cloud computing can be molded to fit just
about anything. Larry Ellison of Oracle has publicly asked if companies
such as Google as based on "water vapor."
There are many things about cloud computing
which both individuals (before they use a service such as T-Mobile Sidekick
for example) and corporate managers should understand and here is one attempt
to demystify cloud computing a bit.
EVERYBODY LOVES A CLOUD
The IT industry loves a new buzzword, even
if it’s just a new word and not a new concept. Cloud computing is the
buzzword du jour and software vendors small and large want everyone to
enjoy life in the cloud.
But is cloud computing really that new? Or
is it a move back to centralized systems, reminiscent of the days when
the mainframe was king with a dash of Software-as-a-Service added?
